Default Should Elite tomes be customized???

My argument is that elite tomes should be customized or have a selling value to a merch for, lets say 5k gold
My reasoning is that it would prevent any elite skill from being handed to any new player with 3k Balthazar points. It is my belief that when one tracks down and caps his own skill or even EARNS it by finding an elite tome in HM, that person has a greater appreciation for the Eliteness of elite skills. Otherwise Elite skills would be slightly less common than normal skills.

I believe that the game loses some of its fun factor when everything is so easily accessible.
No flames please just opinions.

Ok here is the reason for this post. I posted in a previous thread about how an elite Tome trader should be placed in town.
And in my objection to the suggestion i mentioned that i think Elite tomes should be customized as a counter-argument to putting an Elite Tome Merch in the towns. The individual i was discussing it with suggested i should make a post just to see what people think.
Well it seems that now i know how people think. I kinda figured that most people would be against it completely because the way it is now is perfectly fine. But i was hoping to see at least 1 out of 20 posts in my favor.

*edit*
let me edit in hopes to avoid the onslaughts from future flaming fecal flingers.
Ok on the other side of the spectrum, there was mention of adding an elite tome trader to outposts and towns. I am curious who is for that after reading the "customize elite tomes" portion of the thread. Keeping everything the way it is seems like the best idea to me but i like to see what people think.

Do you think there should be an elite tome trader in town, do you think elite tomes should be customized to the specific account, or should all stay the way it is?

I also believe that all drops should be customized. The guy in Kamadan did not work as hard as me to get this Voltaic Spear from Slavers

/notsigned, that was sarcasm btw

So wait...wouldn't unlocking skills with Balthazar points require either time or effort? Wouldn't this constitute earning? How about the money earned to purchase these tomes? I can assure you that Elite Ritualist Tomes (aka [offering of spirit]) don't come cheap.

/unsigned before a potential lock due to flaming and whatnot.

Besides, Anet would never do something like this; there's a reason they sell skill packs.

There's no way to find a balance or way to make this work. MAYBE if the tomes would drop account based (so that any character on your account could use it), but as I don't own all classes it would be pointless for me to get certain elite tomes. And I doubt I'd be the only one with this issue.

Besides a lot of new players or "noobs" as you call them, tend to not even know what Balthazar Faction is let alone how to use it to unlock skills. Nor can they afford some of the more expensive elite tomes which go up to 10 000 gold.

Overall - This is a horrible idea.

Why should I care what elites other players have access to?

I have ALL skills with one of my characters, and ALL of their primary profession with all the rest.

So NO. I don't have any use for tomes for most of my characters. I give them away to my guildies.

I dont know why there should be a "real" value by owning an elite tome and I can't see a way of how it will be good for the game.

/Notsigned

And why having a 5k value when you can sell them 10k+ to a player?

Bad idea is bad

This is just....awful. Completely ruins doing anything in HM with my main guy who is Legendary Skill Hunter, as noted by HawkofStorms and Tyla. Also, only Elite Warriors and Elite Assassins sell to people for your 5k, anything else is more. So you're also hurting some economy with this.

As for the elite tome trader discussion, let's just save it for the elite tome trader thread.

If people want to be stupid and pay 2-10k more than they'd ever need to for capping an elite, go ahead and let them. I'd prefer not to be stuck with customized elite tomes on my Legendary Skill Hunter, kthx.

Why you ask? I farm some bosses, hard mode, on my Necro. I have an Elite Tome drop. What the hell is the point of me having an Elite Tome customised to my Necromancer when the only Elite Skills I need for my title are either not under the same profession as this tome or not unlocked at all. Please, do tell.

Absolutely not. Now granted it's cheaper to buy 10k worth of cap sigs than to spend 10k on one elite tome, but still sometimes there is that one skill with a boss that won't spawn or is just ridiculously hard to get to *glares at Frozen Forest*. I don't think customizing them is a good idea. Now I see no problem if you wanted to sell them to a tome trader or something instead of other players, but if there was a tome trader then you'd be able to buy the tomes easier and that would take the purpose of them out of HM. So /notsigned on both.

Players have a choice between spending money on an elite tome or capping a skill. Some bosses can be annoyingly hard to kill or require a lot of travel. Sometimes players might use an elite tome as a gift, or in giveaways.
